Art by Mycah Higley

While painting I reflect on the memories I am painting. I allow repetition of movement to take over some parts of the painting in the same way repetition in life seems to be a blur in memory. I layer the surface with many forms and arrange the composition as a sort of landscape because landscape is so influential to my experience of these places in my memories.  I find this also results in depth and shapes that I am drawn to from the landscape. I use color that I feel personifies my emotions at the time, and play with the transitions between colors in order to show transitions between emotions.
